What is WMU Giving Day?
Our theme this year is Experience WMU Giving Day. The theme is designed to inspire excitement, goodwill and shared Bronco love among alumni, students, parents, faculty staff, fans, and friends of WMU. For 24 hours, members of Bronco Nation will join together and give to Western Michigan University “so that all may learn.”
What is the goal of Giving Day?
The primary goal of WMU Giving Day is to increase participation among donors and volunteer fundraisers at all levels. Giving Day is a fun and rewarding experience. We expect to attract new donors and reengage lapsed donors who haven’t responded to traditional giving marketing. We also expect our loyal donors to give again and engage on a deeper level. We anticipate even higher engagement and an enthusiastic response from younger alumni.

How it works
Whether online, over the phone or by mail, every gift made on April 17 counts toward the total, regardless of designation. The WMU Giving Day website displays a real-time running tally of the total number of donors and dollars raised overall, as well as for each college and unit. Campus partners collaborate with WMU University Advancement in coordinating email messages, along with other ways of driving excitement, competition and gift-giving. The 24-hour period is structured around challenges, during which campus partners strive to earn bonus money.
Challenges on Giving Day will unlock special funding. They are designed to incentivize broad participation and outreach. Unless specified otherwise, bonus funds go to the annual fund of the college or unit winning the challenge or the parent annual fund for any support area designation.
